The Flower in Prison (2016) is a meticulously crafted project to commemorate the 55th anniversary of MBC. The screenplay and direction were entrusted to two talented Korean figures, Lee Byung-hoon and Choi Jeong-kyu, who collaborated to produce this long-awaited masterpiece. After a long period of filming, the drama finally premiered in 2016, consisting of 51 episodes and airing during prime time on MBC. Immediately, the drama received enthusiastic feedback and achieved top ratings upon the release of its first two episodes.
The Vietnamese title of the drama is "Hoa Trong Ngục" (The Flower in Prison),belonging to the historical drama genre, set in the Joseon dynasty. It features an exceptional cast, including Jin Se Yun, Kim Mi Sook, Ko Soo, Jung Joon-Ho, Park Joo-Mi, Yoon Joo-Hee, among others. Notably, it showcases renowned Korean actress Jin Se-Yun and veteran actor Ko Soo. The story revolves around the beautiful and strong-willed Lee Seo Won (Jin Se Yeon),who was born in prison but maintains the purity and innocence of a young woman. Despite the harsh living conditions and encountering various individuals, Seo Won learns a great deal about life and the law with the help of many people. As a result, she decides to become a defender of justice for the poor and falsely accused. During that time, Joseon had the Waeji-bu legal system, which, although not strict, provided a means of support for the people. Seo Won always uses it as a weapon to fight against evil forces.
