Epik High, a hip-hop group from Seoul, South Korea, consists of three members: DJ Tukutz, Tablo, and Mithrajin. Their journey in the music industry had a rocky start. In 2003, they released their debut album, "Map of the Human Soul," but their hip-hop and soul genre was not well-received by the Korean audience. The album did not achieve much success. However, with their second album, "High Society," the group focused more on the market, developing and perfecting their style. This album marked their initial success, gaining recognition as an up-and-coming music group. The following two albums and a compilation album were significant turning points in their music career. "Swan Songs," "Black Swan Songs," and "Remapping the Human Soul" were masterpieces of modern hip-hop, featuring highly popular singles like "Fly," "Paris," "Fan," and "Love love love." These songs continuously topped the charts, making Epik High the most famous hip-hop band in South Korea. Their fourth album, "Remapping the Human Soul," sold 90,000 copies within the first month of its release. The fifth album's single, "One," featuring Jisun, also reached the top spot on the Korean charts twice.
Epik High's albums are composed by the members themselves. Each song carries deep and profound meanings, yet their rebellious style is easily noticeable if one understands the lyrics. They often address social violence, heartbreak, politics, education, and more, but their songs are easy to listen to and comprehend through their hip-hop genre.
